Can Boys Play Volleyball?

When people think of volleyball for kids, they sometimes assume it is mainly a female sport.  However, boys can also play volleyball! Whether playing in the sand at the beach, or on a  court, volleyball is a fun activity for boys as well as girls. Along with being a competitive team  sport, volleyball is also a fun spur-of-the-moment activity for kids and adults alike.

Volleyball Is Good For Physical Fitness

It is no secret that youth sports help kids maintain physical fitness. Volleyball for boys is a great  way to keep your son active year-round. Volleyball requires constant movement in order to be  ready for the ball. Players are required to jump, dive, and run for the ball in order to keep the play in motion. And because it is faster-paced, it helps keep kids engaged throughout the game.

Volleyball Teaches Life Skills

While most people are aware of the physical benefits of playing a sport, such as boys’  volleyball, they may not realize it also teaches valuable life skills! Leadership and determination  are important components of playing the game. Learning to think and react quickly can help  children in a variety of situations both on and off the court. Players learn how to interact with  different personalities and how to accept both victory and defeat.

Players Learn Teamwork

Teamwork is key when it comes to volleyball. Players rotate to various positions throughout the  game, giving them flexibility and an understanding of the importance of each position. Every position and member  of a volleyball team is important to the team’s success!

Volleyball Improves Communication Skills

Anyone who has played volleyball knows communication between players is crucial! Kids must  call out to their teammates to let them know they are in a good position to return the ball. This  continual ability to communicate in the moment with others is a valuable skill for youth athletes to learn.

Volleyball Helps To Boost Confidence

The ability to claim the ball and let your team know you have it covered requires confidence in your abilities to get to the ball. Whether the game is won or lost, kids build confidence each time they are able to serve, spike, or bump the ball successfully over the net. Thinking on your feet and trusting your instincts are great ways for boys to build confidence.
