Important Program Details
Welcome to the 2019 Fall Season of i9 Sports Soccer!
You will find that i9 Sports is an exciting alternative to other leagues, because we offer the features you value most:
- Unsurpassed organization and communication - Emphasis on fun that places the kids' needs first - Focus on basic skills, sportsmanship, team play and fairness - Convenience (practices and games on the same day) - Inclusiveness (balanced playing time for every player, every game) - Commitment to safety (mandatory certified background checks on all coaches)
League Format: Play is 3v3, 4v4, 5v5 (depending on the age and total registrants), with no intentional contact allowed and no heading the ball. Teams are organized into divisions based on the grade of the child. Teams will consist of 8-12 players each. Each team will have 30 minutes for practice, followed by approximately 30 minutes for a game. You will only be at the fields for about one and a half hours each week. If not enough teams in an age group for full league format (with standings), we will shift the program to an instructional league where an i9 Sports staff member will oversee skill development for the age group and then at the end of the session, kids will be broken into teams and scrimmage.
Equipment: The league provides each player with an official i9 Sports Soccer reversible jersey (the kids love the reversible jersey). Players may wear shorts or sweats of any type, as long as they do not have pockets or belt loops. Appropriate footwear includes football/soccer rubber cleats (no metal). Shin Guards are required to be worn at all times during practice and games. We suggest each use a mouth guard at all times during play. We will have some available for $5 at our field canopy, in case kids forget their own. Each player should provide their own ball for practice.
Awards: Each week one kid from each team will be awarded an i9 Sports Sportsmanship Medal or Sticker for demonstrating the sportsmanship value for that week. All kids will receive an i9 Sports Participation Medal at the end of the season.
Coaches & Referees:All coaches are volunteers, usually a volunteer parent of a child playing on the team. These volunteers will receive mandatory certified background checks and will be provided access to i9 Sports coaching resources and our trained staff to help them with any aspect of coaching their team. Please consider volunteering! Coaches frequently tell us that they find the experience personally rewarding. Coaches may serve as game referees. The referees in our program are there not to only enforce the rules, but to support the kids in their development as players – please support the coaches/referees.
Interactive Website: You can register to play, access schedules, view standings and team/player statistics, review game rules, and get the latest league news at our state-of-the-art website. The website is updated on a regular basis so please check the site often.
