WELCOME TO ANOTHER EXCITING SEASON OF i9 SPORTS^® FLAG FOOTBALL!

The i9 Sports flag football program is designed for your child to enjoy one of America’s favorite sports without the same risk of injury as tackle football.  With the i9 Sports curriculum, your child will learn the fundamentals of flag football with age-appropriate and fun skills and drills that build confidence and ability throughout the season. The practice plans help players develop the core fundamentals of the sport; passing, catching, running with the football, and pulling flags. During the games, coaches and instructors work on coordinated defensive and offensive plays as a player progresses through the program.

• There are No Tryouts, No Drafts, No Fundraisers, and No Mandatory Volunteering!
• Teams are organized in divisions based on the age of the child.
• Practices are conveniently held on game day - just prior to the game

• An official i9 Sports® Reversible Flag Football Jersey is provided and included in your fee
• Players may wear shorts or sweatpants (No pockets or belt loops)
• Rubber cleats or sneakers (No metal spikes)
• Mouth Guards are required at all times during play

FORMAT

Age Groupings and format are tentative. We reserve the right to alter the age groups based on final enrollment.
 

Pee Wee (4-5) – In this age group, emphasis will be placed on acquiring fundamental skills, such as hiking the ball, running with the ball and pulling flags.  The main goal of this age group is to keep the kids laughing and having fun, while learning the very basic skills and progression of the sport. Players will participate in a 30-minute practice followed by a 45-minute game.  While games are played, they are done to learn the structure, organization and experience. Competition is not the focus.  The most important outcomes are to develop a love of the game, increased self-confidence, and to have fun!
 

Youth (6-7) - In this age group, emphasis will remain on acquiring fundamental skills, such as hiking the ball, running with the ball, and pulling flags with additional emphasis on how to play as part of a team.  At this age, it’s all about building confidence in something new, so rules are loosely enforced with an emphasis on teachable moments.  Throughout the season, instructional activities are reinforced in different ways through a fun format designed specifically to capture the short attention spans of this age group.  Players will participate in a 30-minute practice followed by a 45-minute game against another team.  While games are played, they are done to learn the structure, organization and experience.  The most important outcomes are to develop a love of the game, increased self-confidence, and to have fun!
 

Junior (8-10) – For any skill level, the i9 Sports Junior flag football curriculum will teach your child the fundamentals of the game and build upon their developing physical and mental capabilities. Instruction and drills are specially designed for this age group to improve spatial awareness, hand-eye coordination and greater accuracy in throwing and catching the ball. Special emphasis is placed on teamwork and good sportsmanship as players of this age begin to understand the impact they have in relation to others. The offensive playbook includes a balanced number of passing and running plays, and on defense, players begin to experiment with both man-to-man and zone coverage. Scores are kept, and rules are enforced in a fun, positive environment with a continued emphasis on teachable moments.
 

Senior (11+) – The i9 Sports Senior age group is an instructional program led by our experienced flag football coaches who work the kids each week.  Instruction within the i9 Sports Senior flag football curriculum recognizes the capabilities of this age group and balances reinforcement of game fundamentals with age appropriate skill development and emphasis on good sportsmanship. Running and passing plays are more sophisticated and the importance of offensive and defensive game strategy are taught. Our “everyone plays” philosophy ensures all players have the opportunity to develop their skills. Expect to see marked improvement in self-confidence and teamwork at this stage. Scores are kept, and rules are enforced by trained officials. As players begin to experiment and grow more creative with their improved skills, the games naturally become more competitive, but always in a fun way!
 

All players in this age group will participate in a combined 45-minute practice and will then be split up into two equal teams to play a 45-miniute game.  Teams may change on a week to week basis to keep things fresh and produce even matchups.
 

COACHES

All coaches, usually a volunteer parent of a child playing on the team, will receive a mandatory certified background check.  If your interested in coaching, simply fill out the volunteer information during the registration process.  You may also become a Certified i9 Sports coach by clicking VOLUNTEER. Once submitted and approved, we will assign you to a team. 
 

SCHEDULES

Will be finalized when rosters are finalized.  When the rosters are finalized, you will receive an email stating your team #, identifying who your coach is, and letting you know what time your first game is.
 

AWARDS

Each week one child from each team will be awarded an i9 Sports Sportsmanship Medal for demonstrating the value for that week.  All children will receive an i9 Sports Participation award at the end of the season.  An additional award will also be presented to each player on the first-place team of the Junior division.


WEATHER CANCELLATIONS

There is one weather make-up date built into the schedule.  If we lose a weekend of games to weather, we will make them up on this date.  Any additional dates lost may or may not be made up.  We will do the best we can, but we cannot control the weather.  Because of all of the costs built into running the leagues, we cannot provide refunds for dates missed.  We will do all we can to make all the games happen.
