Important Program Details
Welcome to the 2019 Spring Season of i9 Sports Instructional Basketball Program!
Our number one goal is for your child to have a positive experience that will encourage them to continue to play sports. We believe our coaches, parents, and referees need to work together to make this happen.
i9 Sports has a family friendly schedule with consistent practice and play times on the same day! Choose multiple sports from one of our 13 area locations! Also, with weekly lessons in respect, team work and positive attitude, you will quickly find out that i9 Sports is a great environment for kids! Parental laughter and cheers encouraged!
The i9 Sports Basketball program is a 6 "session" experience for players of all ages. This program is for players who are looking to improve their Basketball skills in a fun environment and without the pressure of winning and losing the game.
Every week for 1.5 hours the i9 Sports Coaches will teach basketball fundamentals during practice and coach during games for what we call "Live Action Learning".
League Philosophy: Our number one goal is for your child to have a positive fun experience that will encourage them to continue to play sports. We believe our coaches, parents, and referees need to work together to make this happen.
i9 Sports Instructional Basketball League & Game /Practice Format:
The i9 Sports instructional format is a great way to gear up for league play.
Kids will participate in a 30 minute practice focusing on fundamentals, rules, skill development run by an i9 Sports Coaches and parent coach volunteers.
i9 Sports Coach's will then divide the kids up into teams and they will play a game. i9 Sports .
Game format is 5-on-5.
Court size and basket height vary based on grade/age and NO unsportsmanlike behavior from players or coaches will be tolerated. Parents will be required to sign a "Parental Pledge" before the season begins, ensuring that we all encourge the players to have fun getting better.
We have zero weekly practices and once schedules are set, your time and location will be the same for the entire season.
Teams and Divisions: We create divisions based off of age or grade. In the instructional format, teams can vary from week to week and kids will be broken up with a goal of creating the best possible experience for all kids. Age groups will play/practice together at the same times each week so you can still request to play with friends.
Player Requests: We will do our very best to honor requests to play with friends/siblings/etc, but we can not guarantee all requests, especially after the February 19th registration deadline.
Coaches: In addition to our staff, we will use volunteer parent coaches for our leagues. We perform a back ground check on all of our coaches and take them through an i9 Sports certification class focusing on our philosophy and rules. Coaches will help with the practice and coaching of the games, but the practice curriculum for our instructional format will be designed and managed by our staff.
Equipment: The league provides each player with an official i9 Sports Basketball reversible jersey that your kids get to keep (the kids love the reversible jersey). Players may wear shorts or sweats of any type. Appropriate footwear includes tennis shoes or basketball shoes.
Awards: Each week players will have a chance to earn i9 Sports Sportsmanship Medal or Sticker (depending on age group) for demonstrating the value for that week. Some of the values that we will be talking about are listening, respect positive attitudeand effort! All players will "earn" an i9 Sports SportsmanshipMedal sometime during the season.
