Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language. – Henry James
Hmmm… I’m willing to bet Henry James didn’t have a houseful of kids underfoot all summer long! Look out parents! School’s out for summer or will be very soon! And, if you’re like me you’re probably wondering what you can do to keep the kids occupied for at least a couple of hours each day so you can maintain some sense of sanity until they return to school in the fall.
Yes, summer is here and with that comes the heat, which makes some outdoor activities a little less enjoyable. Don’t fret and don’t let summer fun pass you and the kids by while trying to beat the heat indoors every day. Enter the folks at i9 Sports who may have just the right solution to keeping the kids active and give you a little reprieve.
Hoop, there it is!
Presenting… another exciting season of basketball from i9 Sports. Perhaps one of the best things about this program is that it is INDOORS! Yup, cool, clean indoors air conditioned fun. i9 basketball was created to help parents and their children become part of a well-organized, national program emphasizing basketball education, participation, and sportsmanship. This is continuous action, involving—more good news—minimal equipment. Games emphasize basketball skills of passing, catching, dribbling, running, formations, shooting and different types of defense.
You can also choose an outdoor sport such as soccer, flag football or cheerleading as many activities are scheduled early in the morning or at night.
If you’re not familiar with i9 Sports you should also note that ANYONE CAN PLAY! i9 Sports provides fun and skill development for boys and girls ages 6-14 at all skill levels. Everyone is treated fairly, including less skilled players, giving all children an opportunity to play. Their focus is truly on self-improvement and just having fun.

Additional ideas for indoor fun (with parental supervision) are:
1. Scavenger hunt at the mall – provide your kids with a digital camera and ask them to take pictures of items on your list
2. Check out a local museum or aquarium – even if you’ve been there before you can make it more fun by making a list of things to find during your next visit, i.e. three paintings by a certain artist, number of fish that are a certain color, etc.
What’s your solution for keeping your cool with the kids this summer? I’d love to hear what you have planned.
